Three more and a beautiful weekendThough the weather report may have made you think differently. We had a beautiful flying week here and in the Sequatchie Valley. Midweek had Eric Donaldson getting to cloudbase at 7200. Eric got to launch and the clouds were beautiful but the winds were switchy. After waiting it out, he launched, found a bird and climbed. Once at cloudbase, the sky cleared up and Eric thought that was it for the day, but “everything went nuclear”. Nuclear meaning 800 fpm up on the averager and sometimes climbs as high as 1800 fpm. When he was ready to come down, he couldn’t. Eric finally found some sink by the drive-in and landed at the main LZ. “Yep, that was a pretty good day,” said Eric. Eric is heading to the comps next month, so he is getting as much airtime as possible. Nice flight Eric, it was great to see you looking so small, way up there. Another pilot, Ollie Gregory, had a great flight at Whitwell on Saturday and at Henson’s on Sunday. On Saturday, Ollie launched from Whitwell, flew over the flexies who landed at Galloway on his way to Henson’s, and went back to Galloway before returning to land at Henson’s. Ollie’s also headed to the comps next month. I’ve also heard reports of getting to 7800′ here on Sunday. Anybody who has a flight to report, please send it and I’ll post. If you have a photo, send that too! People love to hear your stories! We also have three new pilots…Stanley, Clint, and Robert. Nice flights you guys.
