Bunkhouse Under New Management

LMFP is now managing the bunkhouse. Please notice the changes and improvements!

Reservations are now required and are handled by the LMFP pro shop. Please call 706-398-3541 or 1-800-688-5637 between 9-6 eastern standard time Thursday-Monday. The pro shop office is also open on Tuesdays during peak season.

Access to the bunkhouse will be limited to people actually staying at the bunkhouse. The code to unlock the door will be provided at the time of making the reservations. This is for guests privacy.

The rates will remain the same. $20 per night including sheets, pillow and pillow case. During our slower times and at the discretion of LMFP, there is the option of renting the top bunk for your personal belongings (when staying in the lower bunk). The cost is $10 and does not include sheets, pillow and pillow case.

Our goal at LMFP is to train our student pilots to fly and to create a safe, comfortable place for them to stay, study, and rest.

New Mountain Pilots!

What beautiful flying days the past two days have been! I always think of weekends like this as “out of the woodwork” days. They are the first really warm days of the year, and while there are a lot of pilots who have been enjoying the soarable days of winter, some pilots come out of the woodwork when the temps warm up. That’s exactly what happened, and there were some great flights.

On Friday, it looked like Saturday was due to be a very stable day. The day started with a pretty good tail wind, but with light and variable on the forecast it was launchable by early afternoon. Launch started filling up and many of the pilots (but not all) were here for their first flights of the year. Despite the stable prediction, Jeff, Terry, Alan, Rob, Scott, Eric, Marc, and Jean all had soaring flights (sorry if I’m forgetting anyone). Mike B. had his first soaring flight using only thermals and Ringo towed up for his first soaring flight of an hour. So, if you haven’t come out of the woodwork yet this year, come on up!

The late afternoon smoothed out for student conditions. Congratulations to Steve Wagner and Todd Perkins! Both of them had their first mountain flights yesterday.

Photo Contest Update

We’ve had some phone calls regarding the tandem photo contest that was due to end on February 14. Because we did not receive enough entries, we’ve extended the contest until March 1. Remember the top prize is learning to fly for FREE! For more info look here.

It is such a beautiful day! Many folks have gotten their first flights of the year yesterday and today. A sunny, warm springlike day really improves the attitude! Makes me think spring and warm weather flying will be here soon. Here’s a video that one of our customers sent us. They came for tandems on their honeymoon.

Winter Flying

One of our pilots, Thomas Wolfe, sent me a photo from one of his snowy flights. Its so beautiful to watch the snowy world from above. Thanks for the photo Thomas.

We have some great entries in our tandem photo contest, but we still don’t have the required minimum number of contestents. The entries must be received by February 15. Here’s the info.
